+Leaked OpenAI Memo "Rough Vibes" Ahead

Hello WKND AI Warriors!

ChatGPT just turned three and now serves 800 million people a week, quietly replacing Google searches and forums as the go-to place for answers.

Also, Perplexity introduced assistants with memory that remember your preferences and past chats while letting you stay in full control.

Plus, Claude Opus 4.5 arrived with better reasoning, coding, and computer-use skills.

Oh yeah, a leaked Sam Altman memo hints at “rough vibes” and possible economic pressure at OpenAI as Google competition heats up.

📰 AI NEWS RECAP

Happy 3rd Birthday ChatGPT🎂

ChatGPT just turned three. The world looks different because of it.

When it launched in November 2022, most people saw it as a cool toy.

Three years later, it has nearly 800 million weekly users.

And its impact is showing up in ways that are impossible to ignore.

Here is what actually changed.

Work shifted in real ways In some countries, freelancers in writing, design, translation, and basic coding saw demand fall.

In others, people used ChatGPT to level up their skills and reach new markets.

Professionals who learned how to integrate it into their workflow moved faster than those who waited.

Learning opened up Students, teachers, and self learners started using AI to break down complex topics, translate concepts, and get unstuck.

Some institutions pulled back because of accuracy or policy concerns, but the momentum never stopped.

People who once felt shut out of certain subjects now had a way in.

Everyday life changed quietly:

  • Planning trips.

  • Drafting emails.

  • Exploring ideas.

  • Understanding contracts.

ChatGPT went from novelty to utility.

Something people open the same way they open a browser.

What this means for you now:

If your work depends on tasks that can be structured, repeated, or systemized, AI has already touched it.

If your value comes from judgment, creativity, interpretation, or trust, you still have room to grow.

Your edge is not in typing faster. It is in thinking better.

How to stay ahead:

  • Use AI to accelerate the work, not define the work.

  • Build a habit of reviewing and improving what AI produces.

  • Invest in the skills that compound with AI rather than compete with it.

  • Treat ChatGPT as a tool that expands your capacity, not a shortcut around effort.

ChatGPT’s third year is not a milestone for the model.

It is a milestone for us.

We are entering a world where people who learn to work with AI will move further, faster, and more confidently than those who wait.

Perplexity introduced AI assistants with memory, letting its Comet Assistant remember user preferences, past conversations, and key details across sessions. The system uses a secure personal memory store rather than training data, so answers become more personalized over time while giving users full control to pause, edit, or turn memory off.

Google rolled out “agentic calling” in Shopping and Search so you can let Google call local stores on your behalf to check stock, prices, and discounts. After you choose what item you’re hunting for and how you want results delivered, Google’s AI places the calls, gathers answers, and sends you a clean summary instead of making you sit on hold.

A leaked memo quoted Sam Altman talking about “rough vibes” and possible economic headwinds at OpenAI as competition from Google intensifies. The note suggests OpenAI may face pressure on revenue and margins even as usage climbs, raising questions about long-term costs and sustainability in the AI race.

Anthropic shared new work on defending against prompt injection attacks, focusing on more robust agent design and system-level safeguards. Their research surveys recent attacks and defenses and offers practical guidance for building AI agents that can safely interact with untrusted content and tools.

Anthropic also launched Claude Opus 4.5, its most capable flagship model with stronger reasoning, coding, and computer-use skills. Opus 4.5 adds a zoom action for inspecting fine UI details, preserves prior “thinking” across long sessions, and delivers frontier-level performance at a more accessible price.

Jony Ive and Sam Altman revealed that OpenAI now has a working prototype of its first AI hardware device, designed to be screenless, simple, and “calm” compared to smartphones. They describe it as a small, context-aware object that could launch within two years and quietly offload digital clutter while letting AI handle more of your daily tasks in the background.
