How YOU Are Using ChatGPT
The answer may surprise you.
OpenAI did a study on how 700 million users use ChatGPT
𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆
• 49% = Asking (advice, ideas, explanations)
• 40% = Doing (writing, planning, drafting, some coding)
• 11% = Expressing (reflection, creativity, play)
𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲
• Writing and editing text, especially improving drafts
• Translating or summarizing content
• Coding is only ~4% of use
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿
• If your work is mostly editing, summarizing, or formatting, AI is already covering that space
• If your value comes from judgment, storytelling, or decision-making, you are safer
• The edge goes to people who combine both: use AI for the heavy lifting, then layer on human context and strategy
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗼...𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄
Treat ChatGPT as a draft partner, not the final author
Ask better questions to get better outputs
Build skill in reviewing and refining AI work
Lean into judgment, strategy, and insight, the parts AI cannot replace
𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲
Don't just ask ChatGPT questions. Find ways to build workflows and automate repetitive tasks. Those who learn to guide, verify, and apply AI will be the ones who stay ahead.
